The Two Fridas

The Two Fridas brooch is an artistic expression of the two sides of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo: the one the media loves, and the one in chronic pain.

Frida Kahlo suffered from chronic pain as a result of severe injuries to her pelvis, spine and right foot among other body parts. The right painful side of this brooch is inspired by Kahlo's Kahlo' s 1944 painting 'The Broken Column'. Frida's real life story is often removed from society's idea of her.
